SUMMARY
Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Addresses Essex County Needs
The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario under the administration of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State, placed $450,000.00 with the Essex Community Futures Development Corporation for county distribution.
Clearly, there were regional needs as nearly $1.4 million dollars in applications for funding were received from industry and non-profit organizations throughout Essex County to compete for the $450,000.00 available. The Essex CFDC Board of Directors had the difficult task of paring the list down to the needs that best represented the Community Adjustment Fund criteria. Applicants were notified of the respective outcomes and projects were completed by March 31, 2010.
Completed projects represented funding for business development, youth and non-youth internship hiring, local initiatives, community capacity and skills development. The $450,000 in approved projects yielded tangible worth to Essex County at large.
